Natural sedative for dogs
Whether your dog is generally anxious or only reacts to stress in specific situations, such as car rides, alone time, or fireworks, natural tranquilizers may be worth trying. These solutions can help create calm without making your dog drowsy.
If your dog is suffering from more severe anxiety, separation anxiety or stress, we always recommend talking to your vet. They can assess the need and possibly prescribe medication if necessary.

Naturally soothing chews
If your dog's reactive behavior is triggered by something specific, calming chews are a good idea to have on hand.
They are given 60 minutes before your dog is going into a situation that may trigger anxiety or stress.
The chews have a calming effect because they contain the natural substance L-tryptophan, which forms the basis for the production of serotonin – a neurotransmitter associated with well-being and calmness.
When we write "soothing", we might as well say "well-being", as the bites help replace discomfort and can thus reduce negative reactions.
Artificial pheromones
Adaptil is dedicated to developing products that secrete artificial pheromones.
The pheromones that have been produced are the same "signaling substance" that a mother dog secretes when she nurses her puppies, and it is therefore associated with great security and well-being.
The purpose of Adaptil is for your dog to associate this “signaling substance” with security, and for its stress level to therefore decrease.
Calming collar
The most popular product with pheromones is the collar, which is effective for up to 4 weeks after opening. It is ideal for dogs that show negative reactions in special situations – for example, when relocating, adopting from a boarding kennel or training to take public transport. The collar is also an advantage if you are going to a summer house or if the dog needs to be looked after for a longer period without you.
Soothing scent
Is the anxiety or nervousness primarily related to the home, such as home-alone training or barking at noises? Then a home diffuser is the right choice. We also recommend an Adaptil Calm Home Diffuser if there are big changes coming into your and your dog’s lives – such as renovations or a new baby (with or without fur) in the family.
The diffuser emits pheromones in the home and covers up to 70 m². It creates a feeling of security and calm for your dog.
Place the diffuser near where your dog spends the most time. Typically by their basket – but if they prefer the sofa, it’s best to place the diffuser nearby.
Calming spray
Another calming solution is the transport spray, which is not tied to the home. It is easy to carry and can be sprayed directly on the places where your dog will be lying – for example in the car or transport crate – to create security when you are on the go.
The spray works in the same way as the diffuser, as it also contains pheromones, but in a format that is perfect for those who need reassurance on the go.
Stay Calm Paste
Statera Calm Paste is a calming supplement for dogs that works longer than chews. It is given directly into the mouth 1–2 hours before the desired effect and has a duration of up to 12 hours.
The pasta is ideal for long car or plane trips, and for some dogs it is a preferred alternative to chews. This variety also has a delicious liver flavor.
Statera Calm Paste contains natural ingredients such as magnesium citrate, ashwagandha and tryptophan, which have a nerve-calming effect and contribute to a feeling of well-being and calmness.
Daily dietary supplement
For generally nervous, stressed or hyperactive dogs or puppies. The dietary supplement is given daily, alone or with food, and promotes a sense of well-being - completely naturally. Ideal during periods of stress such as New Year's, moving or home-alone training - or as part of a calming routine for your dog. The effect can be expected after approx. 2 weeks.
Lick Mat
A lick mat is perfect for home-alone training, separation anxiety, over-excited puppies/dogs, and other situations where your dog needs to be distracted and calmed down for a short period of time that could otherwise be stressful or anxiety-provoking.
When the dog licks, saliva production increases and calming endorphins are released, helping the body to calm down. At the same time, the increased saliva production contributes to healthy digestion.
Lick mats are especially good in stressful situations like moving, guests or New Year's. A small activity that can make a big difference to your dog's well-being.
