How to repair a non-working Orbiloc light
Is your Orbiloc Safety Light not working – or is it turning off by itself? Here's a simple troubleshooting guide so you can quickly become visible again.
Why is your Orbiloc not working?
The most common cause is a loose connection between the battery pack and the electronics. This can happen after battery replacement, incorrect assembly, or using non-original batteries. Fortunately, it is easy to fix yourself.
In rare cases, the error is caused by a defective Mode Selector Ring , which must be replaced.
1. The lamp is not re-tensioned.

Solution: Tighten the base of the lamp with the included Service Tool or by hand.
Explanation: Orbiloc is not fully tightened from the factory to avoid discharge during transport. Therefore, make sure to screw the base fully tight before using the light for the first time – and again after changing the batteries.
2. You are using third-party CR2032 batteries

Solution: Carefully bend the three battery springs in the base up 1 mm.
Explanation: Orbiloc's own battery packs are slightly thicker than two standard CR2032 batteries. If you use third-party batteries, a loose connection may occur. By bending the springs up slightly, you will re-establish contact with the electronics.
Important: Brightness and battery life can only be guaranteed with Orbiloc's own battery packs.

3. The O-ring is in the wrong position

Solution: Remove the O-ring from the base and place it in the recess above the thread on the lens.
Explanation: If the O-ring is down in the base, the light cannot be screwed together properly. This prevents contact between the battery and the electronics.

Tip: The O-ring can be difficult to see as it is black like the rest of the base. You may want to test with a base from another Orbiloc – if it works, the problem is probably the O-ring placement.
4. The battery pack is facing the wrong way or is flat

Solution: Turn the battery pack over or replace it with a new one.
Explanation: The battery pack must be placed in the base with the positive (+) terminal facing down . If you are using two separate CR2032 batteries, both positive terminals must face down.
Orbiloc battery packs have an expiration date – check it before using them. However, a battery may be flat even if it is still within the expiration date.
5. The lamp is assembled incorrectly

Solution: Disassemble the light and reassemble it. See page 13 of the user manual for step-by-step instructions (you do not need to replace the Mode Selector Ring).
Explanation: If the lamp is assembled incorrectly, it cannot be screwed together completely and the connection is broken.
Remember:
– The magnet in the function selector must be located in one of the four semicircles in the lens.
– Remove the O-ring before installing the attachment and replace it in the recess afterwards.
6. Mode Selector Ring is defective

Solution: Replace the Mode Selector Ring. See instructions on page 13 of the Orbiloc Dog Dual manual .
Explanation: A defective ring means you cannot turn the light on/off. Replacement is the only solution.
Typical errors on the ring:
– The ring is broken.
– The magnet is missing.
– The magnet is rusted (corroded).
Tip: Always rinse the flashlight in fresh water after using it in salt water – salt can damage the magnet's protective layer.
