Puppy food

It is important that your puppy is fed a dog food that is adapted for puppies. This is to ensure your dog gets the right nutrition and grows properly. Your puppy should be fed puppy food until it is about 90% grown. It is especially important for puppies of large breeds.

Best puppy food

Puppy food should be properly formulated from good quality ingredients so your puppy gets the nutrients it needs as it grows.
Puppies grow very fast and have a high energy requirement that needs to be met by their food. Puppy food has a higher energy content and contains more fat and protein than adult dog food does.

We sell dry puppy food from Orijen and Acana, barf puppy food from Mush and wet puppy food from Lily’s Kitchen. All selected and balanced to ensure your puppy’s optimal development.

Puppy food for large dog breeds

For puppies weighing more than 25kg when fully grown.
Our food for large breed puppies has a lower fat content than our other puppy foods to regulate the growth and weight of the puppy. This is because puppies of large dog breeds are best off growing slowly, to be gentle on their bones and joints as they grow.

Orijen Puppy Large and Acana Puppy Large are made especially for large breed puppies. The main difference between the 2 is the protein content, which is 85% in Orijen and 70% in Acana.

Puppy food for small dog breeds

For puppies weighing up to 10kg when fully grown.
Our food for small breed puppies contains slightly more fat, but otherwise the main difference is that the size of the kibble is smaller and easier for small breeds to eat.

Acana Puppy Small Breed is made especially for small breed puppies.

How much food should my puppy eat?

The amount of dog food for each puppy varies according to its environment, age and activity level. We recommend that you keep an eye on your puppy’s weight and adjust the portions as necessary. Male puppies often grow faster than female puppies and may have slightly higher energy requirements.

Small dog breeds should typically eat puppy food until they are 8-10 months old.
Medium breeds should typically eat puppy food until they are 1 year old.
Large dog breeds should typically eat puppy food until they are 1.5-2 years old.
