Dog collar, harness and leash - what's the difference?

It can be difficult for the new dog owner to remember the difference between collars, harnesses and leashes. That's why we've provided a brief explanation. Further down you can see the different types of collars, harnesses and leashes.

Dog collar

Dog collars are worn around the dog's neck and can be used to secure the dog's leash during walks. Most people also choose to attach a dog tag to the collar, as it is a practical and safe solution.

Dog harness

If your dog pulls, we recommend a harness.

A dog harness distributes the pull more gently over the body and relieves the neck, making it a good choice – especially for puppies. Most dogs will thrive better with a harness, as it provides greater freedom of movement and comfort during walks.

Dog leash/dog lead

The dog leash attaches to either the harness or collar and gives you control over your dog during the walk. It ensures that you can keep your dog close to you and create safety for both you and your surroundings.
