The standard size for an English bulldog is 18 –23 kg for female dogs and 23 - 25 for male dogs.
It is based on these measurements that we make size recommendations. Always check the measurements on the different products for your dog.
Collar for English bulldog
The advantage of a wider collar is that the collar distributes pressure and therefore does not strain a single cervical vertebra. If you have a dog that pulls, we recommend that you choose a wide collar or harness, as the English bulldog is a strong dog and can therefore put a lot of weight on its neck.
The Carhartt collar is robust and durable and fits very well for dogs with wide necks. In addition, the Carhartt style is made for wide and muscular dogs. We recommend size L.
We recommend leather collars from Molly and Stitch - here the small English bulldogs usually need size XL, while the slightly larger ones often fit size XXL. The leather collar from Molly & Stitch is made of soft grease leather, which makes it comfortable for your dog to wear.
Another collar that fits this breed really well is the pearl collars from Zinji. The beautiful collars are wide and most fit size L.
Dog harness for English bulldog
Y-harness:
We have Y-harnesses that can be adjusted on so many leads and edges that it works well for the English bulldog. These are the Y-harness from Dog Copenhagen and the leather Y-harness from Hunter.
Both harnesses are highly adjustable. In a Dog Copenhagen we recommend size L. In a Hunter leather harness we recommend M or L for bitches and size L for males.
Step-in harness:
Due to the breed's wide chest, step-in harnesses typically fit well. A harness that is popular for the breed is the harness from Carhartt. Here we recommend size M or L for bitches and L for males.
The harness that goes over the head:
The leather harness from Molly and Stitch is good in the front for broad-chested dogs and has plenty of room to fit over the head of dogs with a large head. A female will typically fit a M/L and a male a L/XL.
Dog blanket, raincoat, sweater and winter jacket English bulldog
The challenge with clothing for English bulldogs is their wide chest and their otherwise relatively narrow body.
The jacket from Carhartt is really popular for this breed. We find that both bitches and males fit size L. We also have a winter jacket that does not have to be worn over the head, so you can avoid the challenge of their thick neck.
