Here you will find suggestions for collars, harnesses and clothes for dogs of the mixed breed cockerpoo. There is no standard size for cockerpoo as it is a new mixed breed. A cockerpoo is a mix of a cocker spaniel and a poodle. The size of the cockerpoo mainly depends on the size of the poodle that is included in the mix.
Most cockerpoos we meet in Hunni weigh 8-14 kg.
It is based on these measurements that we make size recommendations. Therefore, it is always a good idea to check the measurements on the different products for your dog.
Remember you can always return or exchange for another size in Hunni regardless of whether you shop in the store or the webshop.
Dog collar for cockerpoo
The challenge with collars for cockerpoos is that their fur can look quite different, and this can have a big impact on which collars are best suited to the dog. The cockerpoo is a mixed breed between a cocker spaniel, with a medium-long, smooth coat, and a poodle with a finer, curly coat.
If your dog has slightly curly fur or a fur structure that generally leans more towards the poodle, you can choose a smooth and round-stitched collar that does not create knots in the fine fur. Nylon collars such as those from The Painter's Wife are also good at not tangling the fur. Here, most cockerpoos should use a size small or medium.
Collars that are gentle on the fur
If your cockerpoo has a coat that leans more towards the cocker spaniel, you can choose freely between our many collars. Cocker spaniels were originally bred for hunting, and are therefore typically very energetic and eager dogs, which can mean that some cocker spaniels and therefore also cockerpoos may pull on the leash.
If your dog pulls on the leash, it is an advantage to use a harness or a wide collar to protect your dog's neck.
Dog harnesses for cockerpoo
The challenge with harnesses for cockapoos, like with collars, is that the coat can affect the choice.
If you have a dog with a very fine coat that can tend to tangle, it is an advantage to have as little surface area on the harness as possible. Here we recommend the harnesses from The Painters Wife. The vast majority of Cockerpoos should use size S in this brand as adults, some large males should go up to size M.
The harnesses from Drew's Dogwear and the dog collective also fit really well on this type of dog.
The leather harnesses from Molly and Stitch are also popular because they are easy to put on and have a good fit. Here they typically fit a size S.
If your Cockerpoo has a coat that leans more towards the Cocker Spaniel, you have more freedom of movement.
If you have an eager dog that pulls on the leash, the Aalborg harness from Hunter is really good.
Dog blanket, raincoat, sweater and winter jacket for cockerpoo
The challenge with clothing for a cockerpoo is that it is a long and slender dog, and therefore it can be challenging to find clothing that fits in length without being too wide.
Our experience is that in the Danish climate, most Cockerpoos need clothing. Poodles do not have undercoat, and therefore need clothing during the cold months to keep warm and avoid getting wet.
Clothes for cockerpoos should be long and relatively narrow.
The rain and winter jackets from Paikka have many adjustment options and fit well on many Cockerpoos. Go for a size 30, 35 or 40 depending on the length of your dog's back.
Cloud7 makes the finest both transitional and winter jackets in many different models and colors. If your dog is particularly short and long, it may be a good idea to take a look at the jackets that are specially designed for dachshunds here . A cockerpoo will typically be a size 5 or 6 in cloud7, however, it is important to emphasize that the models are different, and we therefore recommend that you take a look at the size guide on the applicable jacket. See a selection of the fine jackets below:
If you are unsure whether your dog is cold, you can keep an eye on whether it is shivering, does not want to go out in bad or cold weather, whines or seeks your attention a lot if you are standing still. Another indicator of whether your dog needs clothes is whether it has undercoat. You may be able to see it? Otherwise, you can keep an eye on whether it is shedding.
