Here you will find suggestions for harnesses, collars and clothing for Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
The standard size for a Staffordshire bull terrier is 11 – 17 kg.
It is based on these measurements that we make size recommendations. Therefore, it is always a good idea to check the measurements on the different products in relation to your dog.
Remember you can always return or exchange for another size in Hunni regardless of whether you shop in the store or on the webshop.
Dog harnesses for staffordshire bull terrier
The challenge in finding harnesses is that the breed is known to be strong, broad and can have a relatively short chest and a broad head.
A model that often fits really well is "step in braces".
We have a nice step-in harness from Carhartt that has anti-pull in the front, which is very practical if your dog pulls. Here, the vast majority should use size M, as the harness is large in size and is made wide in the chest. Another nice step-in harness is the one from The Painters wife which comes in many different colors.
 Y-harness
Many people talk about how the Y-harness is the best type of harness for all dogs. The problem with this model for dogs with "large" heads is that there are very few Y-harnesses where you can adjust the part that goes over the head. This means that the part that goes over the head is far too small for the rest of the harness to fit well. However, we have a couple of Y-harnesses that you can adjust on so many leads and edges that it works well for the staff. These are the Aalborg leather harness from Hunter and the harness from Dog Copenhagen.
The Hunter harness is very adjustable, and we find that most small bitches can be in a size M (S/M1), while the slightly larger bitches and males need size L (S/M2). In the harness from Dog Copenhagen, we find that most Staffordshire Bull Terriers need size M.
Collar for staffordshire bull terrier
We recommend leather collars from Molly and Stitch - here the small staffies usually use size L while the slightly larger ones often fit size XL. The leather collar from Molly & Stitch is made of soft grease leather, which makes it comfortable for your dog to wear.
Another collar that fits really well is the pearl collars from Zinji. The beautiful collars are large in size, so small bitches fit a size S, while males typically need to go up to a size M.
The collars here are a little wider. The advantage of a slightly wider collar is that the collar distributes pressure and therefore does not strain a single cervical vertebra. If you have a dog that pulls, we recommend that you choose a wide collar or harness, as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a strong dog and can therefore put a lot of weight on the neck.
Dog blanket, raincoat, sweater and winter jacket for your Staffordshire bull terrier
The challenge with clothes for the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is that when you have to find dog clothes, the clothes must be able to accommodate the wide chest, and at the same time the clothes must not be too long.
The winter and rain jackets from Cloud7 for French bulldogs are made so that there is plenty of room for the chest. If you have a small Staff, it can fit a size 4 or 5.
We have had very good experience with the rain jacket and winter jacket from Paikka, they fit well with the staff. Size 40 is often the best fit.
The John B sweater from The Painters wife is knitted in a way that allows it to expand quite a bit, and we know they fit really well on the staff. We have found that they fit a size XL best.
