To some, celebrating a dog's birthday may sound crazy, but no one deserves to be celebrated like your dog. We've put together 5 ideas for how you can celebrate your dog so they have the best day ever.
Birthday meal
For many dogs, the way to their hearts is through delicious food. We've come up with suggestions for delicious treats, a real feast, and of course, birthday chews.
I treat my dog to extra smelly/stimulating chews on his birthday, which I might not normally want in my apartment. But once a year doesn't hurt.
A walk on the beach or in the forest
One of the places I can see the happiness in my dog's eyes is when we are at the beach or in the forest - that's why it's an obvious birthday outing. We've written a blog post about places you can go swimming with your dog. Read it here:
A social activity
If you can spend a little extra time at home, it's definitely already fantastic in your dog's eyes.
If you have an active dog and the opportunity to take it out for exercise, then for many it will also be something that makes the day extra fun. There is, among other things, a training track in Farum that you can rent with a trainer - it's called Equiility Hundehal, and it's definitely worth a visit. Otherwise, just fill up the treat bag well, and then go out to the park and jump on benches, tree trunks or other fun encounters on your way.
Birthday gift
The big question is what to get your dog for his birthday. There are many options.
You can go the classic route and choose something your dog needs, such as a new collar or a nice dog bed (or a little gift for yourself). You can also take a different approach and give your dog something that he clearly understands is the gift for him - it could be a teddy bear, a ball or something delicious to eat.
Dog birthday party
For some dogs, it's a real celebration when guests come, while others are stressed or otherwise uncomfortable with people in the house. The same goes for other dogs on the register.
A dog birthday party for the best people in your dog's life, or its best canine friend, can also be a great idea if you and your dog can relax and have fun with it.
